History of Gateway at Aotea College

Gateway started at Aotea College in the first term of 2004 and in the first year 35 places were fulfilled in various industries.  Right from the beginning the program has been devoted to placing students in industries they are interested in and providing them with the support to achieve their industry qualifications. 

As the years progressed, the amount of students involved in the program increased, as did the number of industries, businesses and training institutions.  Gateway has always aimed to offer students the opportunity to explore nearly any profession they can think of, from training and experience in the trades to teaching, hairdressing to plumbing, the gateway program at Aotea College has been involved in it all.

The recognition and involvement grew with students, teachers and outsiders over the years and now gateway is a vibrant and important part of Aotea College.
