The current principal is Tim Davies-Colley who took hold of the position at the beginning of term one 2008. He has already discussed new ideas amongst staff and pupils to introduce an 'outdoor classroom'.
What is Gateway?
Gateway is an individual structured programme that meets the needs of students.It is a school subject that students can take where they can choose an industry that they would like to work for. While working for the industry of own choice each student learns new skills and gains great experience. Gateway does not cost as it is funded by the Tertiary Education Commission.
Its offers placings in the following industries:
- Furniture & Construction
- Hospitality
- Sports & Fitness
- Retail
- Computing
- Hair-Dressing
- Travel & Tourism
- Anything we can find an employer for
We hope that the students out of gateway are able to continue on with their gateway experiences when they leave college. Some students who are successfull are able to get jobs/apprenticships. While others who aren't so lucky still get a good look into the working world, and whether or no they want to pursue a career in the industry they worked in.
