When I chose to do gateway I had in mind the idea of being an electrician when I leave college. So to see if I would enjoy it that is what I did for my gateway experience. I have been doing gateway since the beginning of the year and got a job with a company called “Elite Doors Services Limited” and I am enjoying every minute of it. With the company I am in I have been working on:
I was quite nervous before I started my Gateway course but the people are really friendly. At first I didn’t really know what very much about being an electrician and didn’t always understand the tasks which my boss was asking me to do. But with a lot of patience from him he really helped me to understand a lot of the basics of electrical work. Not only has Gateway given me an opportunity to experience a working day as an electrician but it has also set me up in courses at WELTEC. One of the courses I went to was about wiring electrical components and I loved it. Not only did I enjoy learning about the electrical side of it but the teachers there were really caring for how well I was doing and the students were really good people. In conclusion I have learned many things through Gateway this year, met lots of different and interesting people but the most important thing which I have discovered this year in gateway is that I love doing electrical work and really wish to pursue being an electrician as a career. I really feel that Gateway has helped me a lot and I would recommend it to anyone. Even if you take Gateway and don’t enjoy the job you are doing then at least you won’t waste any more time in pursuing that career. |
