Partners Porirua Wins Award
This year’s Chamber of Commerce Business Awards were a great success especially since Partners Porirua received the award for best non profit. In a challenging category we were pleased to be able to demonstrate our professionalism and the skills and strength of our staff team.
The awards, sponsored by Westpac, recognised a number of employers who are already working with us to take on young employees and we congratulate all the nominees who recognise the importance of youth employment.

Young Employee Awards
Michelle Robinson and
Maraea Katene
The shortlisted nominations for Young Employee Award were announced at a function at the Pepper Mill early in October and the winners announced at the Chamber of Commerce Business Awards in October. The standard was so high, two awards were given to Maraea Katene and Lauren Brown.
Maraea demonstrates the commitment to excel in both customer service relations as well as the demanding telecommunications sales environment. She has the desire to upskill herself with both internal and external training courses. Currently she is on the way to achieving a NZQA certificate in frontline retail management. She has a fantastic sense of humour.
Going above and beyond the job description has never been a problem for Lauren Brown. She is ambitious, determined to succeed and goal oriented. Her outstanding leadership skills led to promotion only 3 months after graduating with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. After three years she is managing 17 people at Sand Dunes Early Learning Centre.
Reece Eastham and Danielle Tolley were short listed. “Look out for these two young employees as they develop their careers” said Michelle Robinson of Partners Porirua.
Young Employees make a significant contribution and can motivate and enthuse other workers. Their employers have benefited greatly.
